Cannery Casino Resorts Break Ground on Eastside PropertyIn the neverending cycle of Vegas expansion, let’s not forget about all the projects going on off the Strip. The latest project to be announced is a second location for the Cannery Casino and Hotel.

The Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel will be constructed on the land that the Nevada Palace Casino & Hotel currently sits at Boulder Highway and Harmon Avenue, near Sam Boyd Stadium. Its design, by Klai Juba Architects, is said to draw inspiration from the industrial age of the early 20th century and its focal point will be a 16-story bronze hotel tower that will have steel elements.

When finished, the property will have a 307 room hotel, a 65,000-sq-ft casino, a live entertainment lounge, a spa, a pool area with cabanas and jacuzzi, three bars, and five restaurants, including one at the top of the hotel tower. There will also be a 20,000-sq-ft ballroom and meeting space.

Ground has already been broken for the project, which has an expected opening of late summer 2008.
