A Sneak Peek at the Encore by Wynn

We’re mere months away from the grand opening of the newest resort to open on the Strip, Encore at the Wynn Las Vegas, and yet most of the details of the resort design have been kept underwraps. However, we’ve finally been able to get our hands on some interior shots of one of the basic suites.
As you can tell from the photo above, the room decor has a slight masculine feel with the use of the dark wood trim and red accent color, but also makes use of carefully placed lights and mirrors to give the room a larger more airy feel. The only thing that seems out of place is the blueish gray of the seating area furniture. It seems to clash with the red accent used elsewhere in the room. Also not crazy about that oval table thing in the sitting area (see the photos below).

The Palazzo Opens Amidst Fireworks and Fanfare

Racing against the wire, the Venetian pulled off the Thursday (January 17) opening of its newest tower, The Palazzo, in grand style. Flipping the ceremonial switch to start the celebration, Las Vegas Sands Chairman Sheldon Adelson, his wife Dr. Miriam Sands, and Bill Weidner (Las Vegas Sands president and COO) were all smiles as fireworks lit up the skies above the resort.
“As we began the design and development of The Venetian in 1995, we always envisioned a second property that would complement and work in unison with the Sands …

Vegas Hotel News for November 29, 2007
Just a few quick Vegas notes of interest for this week regarding upcoming hotel developments and renovations:
Palazzo, the Venetian’s new tower, has pushed back the soft opening date one week from December 20 to December 28. No reason has been given for the delay, but all those who had reservations from the 20th to 27th are being contacted about switching their reservations to elsewhere on the Venetian property. The grand opening celebration is still on track, though, for the weekend of January 17-19. Between December 28 and the grand opening, …

The Frontier’s Final Moments In Video
In this final installment of the end of the Frontier hotel series, I’ve got one last set of photos from the night of the implosion. These show the aftermath of the explosions.

The building, formerly the 16-story Atrium hotel tower, was brought down by 1,000 pounds of explosives that were so precise that not only did the tower not knock down any of the surrounding buildings, it also left the nearby carport and palm trees intact.

Tomorrow, I’ll talk about the project that will sit on …

Monte Carlo to Reopen February 15
In a statement released today, MGM Mirage has set a date for the reopening of the Monte Carlo for next Friday, February 15th.
The hotel has been completely closed since the fire that occurred on January 25th, which is currently being blamed on welding that was being done on the rooftop. The blaze damaged portions of the exterior facade as well as rooms on the top floors. But with round the clock work being done both …

Las Vegas Travel Deals
The price of airline tickets just seems to keep going up, and hotel prices in Vegas have been getting crazy over the years as well. One frequent complaint we get around here is that we haven’t gone far enough out of our way to collect the best flight and hotel deals to Las Vegas for our readers.
Some people evidently seem to think we have been keeping these travel deals to ourselves, just passing the information on to friends and people we meet through our Myspace account. Those criticisms really hurt, so we …

Plaza Las Vegas To Bring New York City Elegance to The Strip
The Plaza Hotel in New York City is well-known for its luxury and hospitality amongst travelers to the city. Now, the ELAD Group, which owns The Plaza, is set on bringing their slice of New York to Vegas.
Sitting on the grounds where the Frontier once sat, The Plaza Las Vegas project is estimated at $8 billion and when finished, will be a multi-use property featuring an ultra-luxury hotel, private residences, casino, restaurants, an entertainment venue and a convention complex.
Initial artist renderings have the Vegas property sharing the external design of the New York property. Here is an initial look at …

One Last Look at The Frontier
To wind up this Thanksgiving holiday, let’s take one more look at the last moments of the Frontier.
First a look at the hotel, prior to the implosion. As I arrived, I could tell the building had a good majority of windows removed and several floors were scored (parts of the outer wall were removed) to allow for the building to collapse upon itself, rather than explode outwards.

It gave the building a very eerie look. As though it’d been through a huge battle and didn’t come out the winner.
Thanks to Preferred Public …
