Las Vegas: City of Murals

mural.jpgAs part of an art and education project to commemorate Las Vegas’ 100th birthday, the city invited public and private businesses to host murals throughout the valley. Each participating business was asked to house a mural which would be designed and created by local artists. The businesses pledged to maintain the mural for a minimum of five years. As of July 2005, at least 48 murals have been completed with expecations that over 180 will eventually be finished. This enthusiasm for art about town exceeds the city’s goal of 100 murals for the birthday celebration.
