Toast 7-7-07 With These Special Vegas Cocktails
In honor of the luckiest day of the year, three special cocktails have been created to be served to those in Vegas today.
Wolfgang Puck (who coincidentally is getting married today in Italy) and his restaurant group have created a signature cocktail called the Strawberry Hardway, named for the Blackjack hand. It is a blend of Chinaco Silver tequila, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh strawberries and balsamic crème. The cocktail is $12 and is available at all five of Puck’s Vegas restaurants: Spago and …

Ultimate Flair Championships To Be Held at Harrah's
If you’ve ever marveled at those bartenders who can throw, flip and catch bottles, all the while not missing a beat pouring your drinks, then you are a fan of Flair Bartending. It’s truly a learned skill and a tough one to master. But if you want to see how the best of the best do it, you’ll want to be at Harrah’s June 29 for the finals of the Ultimate Flair Bartending Championships.

Rock-n-Roll Wine Tasting at MIX Lounge
If you’ve ever wanted to attend a wine tasting, but thought you might feel out of place, then you’ll want to check out a Rock-n-Roll Wine event, where a sense of humor is as important as a set of tastebuds. Their April event will be held at the MIX Lounge and will feature tastings of champagnes, as well as the usual reds and whites. Add in some live entertainment and you have a fun, high-energy tasting event, instead of a staid and snobby one. Light appetizers will be provided as well.

Wine and Dine in Las Vegas
Here’s an interesting fact for all you wine lovers: The Court of Master Sommeliers reports that 15 master sommeliers, almost 20 per cent of all those in America, are now based in Las Vegas. Los Angeles, by contrast, has none. Here’s a firsthand account about just how great a gig it is from a former Charlie Palmer Steakhouse sommelier.

Pour 24 to Open at New York-New York
New York-New York is getting ready to open their newest lounge, called Pour 24.
Aimed at beer lovers, the bar will offer a constant selection of 24 bottled beers, with another 24 draft choices served from a state-of-the-art tap system designed to deliver a perfect pour every pint.
The selection will revolve on a regular basis, but NY-NY has pledged that the bar will not serve any imports or macrobrews (the term for when major breweries try to emulate the microbrew market). Hopefully this will mean a varied …

Gilley's at the Frontier to Hold Farewell Party
With all the news swirling lately of the sale of the Frontier and it’s imminent closure, I felt it was important to note that one other Vegas attraction in the hotel will soon be history, too.
Gilley’s Dance Hall Saloon, which has drawn country music fans to the Frontier for years, is also closing down. From its $15 all-you-can-drink suds to its mechanical bull, it was the lone honky-tonk on the Vegas Strip for many years.
The staff will hold a farewell party for the bar on July 7, a week before the resort itself is reportedly due to close. Other than that many of the employees are not talking much about the upcoming closure of the popular country bar.
