Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand

The MGM name and lions go hand in hand. So, it is only fitting that the MGM Grand Hotel and Las Vegas do what they can to preserve their favorite animal for future generations. The Lion Habitat is 3,000 square feet large and has a tunnel running through the habitat so that visitors can see the large cats as they prowl and nap. There is lots of foliage, four waterfalls, and a pond that resembles the lions’ natural home as much as possible. The lions are taken care of by noted exotic animal expert Keith Evans, and are trucked …

Las Vegas Natural History Museum

Yep, Vegas has a Natural History Museum, and we’re not talking about leftover meatballs from the Italian mobster days. Kids will love the 35-foot-long robotic Tyrannosaures Rex, and all sorts of crazy animals they’ve never heard of. Two particularly rare species of animals at the museum are two water chevrotains, an African cross between a pig and a deer. They also have live animals, lots of “hand-on” areas, and a chance to pet some animals. Mom’s can rest easy, the live sharks that swim in the 3,000-gallon tank are not up for petting.

The habitat boasts a collection of more than 300 birds and is located on the first floor of the hotel near the back by the pool.

NOTE:The public can witness a penguin feeding every day at 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m..
