Sometimes, it’s just so tough being in Las Vegas, you need a little pampering…
Due to the popularity of the Dreaming Ritual treatment, the Grand Spa at the MGM Grand has introduced three new “Ritual” treatments. These new treatments combine modern spa therapeutics with cultural remedies and ingredients to produce complete relaxation from head to toe. Read on and bliss out.
Mandalay Place, which connects the Mandalay Bay hotel with the Luxor, is a haven of high-end stores with pampering in mind. One such establishment is The Art of Shaving, a male version of a spa. This small storefront offers a whole range of products for the consumer to take home, as well as a back area where the magic happens—the luxury of an old-fashioned straight-edged shave (and a haircut, if you so desire).
A host of products, such as shaving creams and soaps, after-shave masks and balms, shaving brushes, as well as razors of all kinds adorn the shop. They also offer a line of skin care as well as hair care products. An excellent place to get something unique for your special man.
I took a chance on a rumor that the spa at the Aladdin was nice and departed from my natural draw to the spas at Bellagio and Caesars Palace. Aladdin has an Arabian Nights theme, and this is carried over to the privately owned Elemis. I feared that the desert mystique decor would be tacky an overdone, but I was pleased to be set straight . Elemis is a classy, intimate spa with a tasteful interetior and polite staff. It is anything but cheap. There are plenty of treatments to choose from, and I never felt crowded out of their space or that it was time for me to make room for others. The main room has an elevated circular Jacuzzi with four lounge chairs, with a steam room and sauna off to the side. Elemis provides lockers, robes, shoes, limitless towels, and product in the showers and dressing area. Use of the fitness room is also included with treatment packages or $25 day passes.
If you’ve been working so hard that any massage will do…here is a list of Hotels on the Las Vegas Strip and their basic rate for a standard massage. Some hands are better than others, but I certainly haven’t tried them all. As always it’s best to book 1-7 days in advance, and surely before you get there if you’re traveling on a weekend. Tipping is recommended, but check their policies as some rates include tax and gratuities. Now get ready to say ahhhhhh…….

I got the Royal Roman treatment at Venus the Salon at Caesar’s Palace. You know how it is, you’re reading the list of treatments and you want the most expensive one. After exactly six minutes you start to accept that you can only afford a manicure, but you keep looking at five-hour seven-layer wrap me up in something that sounds like last week’s Starbuck’s special mated with Organic Farming’s soil of the month.
Then you rationalize the situation. If I spend half of next month’s rent I’ll look like a million bucks. And everybody knows that the more you look like Lady Luck, the more she’ll bless you at the tables. Because she is vain. Oh she is vain.
I went to the Luxor’s Oasis Spa yesterday and was disappointed to find that the day spa is no longer open 24 hours. I was just there last year at 2:00 a.m., and happily wrote up them in Lonely Planet’s Best of Las Vegas as one of the top five spas in Vegas just for that feature. The attendant told me that their 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. hours started on May 16, once the MGM bought them out.

One of the hidden gems in Vegas, at least from a value perspective is the spa and gym at Orleans. Spa Orleans, while not on the caliber of a Bellagio, or Wynn, is an excellent spa with a small, friendly staff that know what they are doing. Offering the usual compliment of spa services such as massages, and facials, the Spa Orleans is a good experience in a boutique feel environment. The gym, while not the size of some of the other gyms around town, has state of the art equipment, and usually not …

I actually hate the saying “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Rather, I believe that if you have a rip roaring time, why not tell your friends about it. Bragging rights! And what’s more important, they’ll want to come too and the next retreat from Dullsville, U.S.A. will get booked before next week’s Bunko game.
Whether you like to gab with the girls, or keep the goods all to yourself, here are some unique treatments that will surely make headlines:
Hot Toe Bliss: A warm stone massage with little stones placed between your toes. Supposedly good for cleansing toxins and opening …
