Search for the best deals on resort packages in Las Vegas:

Hard Rock poolSearching for a resort in Las Vegas is like searching for a tall building in Midtown Manhattan. Finding a hotel that doesn’t call itself a resort is now the tricky part. They might more accurately be described as mega-resorts, but whatever you want to call them, Las Vegas is filled with huge hotels where you can spend an entire week inside and never get bored.

Many of the newer resorts have specific themes, but several of them just pamper their guests without trying to convince them they are in another time or place. Prices tend to reflect a combination of quality and location, but paying top dollar isn’t a guarantee of a perfect vacation. Occasional special deals can put even the top places into a more modest price range, so you want to compare a few places before you book.

Here are the 10 largest Las Vegas resort hotels:

MGM Grand – With over 6,000 rooms and almost 7,000 planned when it’s complete, this is the world’s largest hotel complex at the moment. There is no specific theme, but the pools, rivers, and waterfalls in the outdoor area are quite luxurious. There are nearly two dozen restaurants, a 17,000-seat arena, a convention center, a wedding chapel, and several other notable nightclubs and theaters. If you get bored here you have only yourself to blame.

Luxor – Over 4,400 rooms in this Egyptian-themed resort complex make it the second largest hotel in Las Vegas. A renovation currently underway will remove much of the Egypt theme and replace it with more generic adult themes. The Luxor has 10 restaurants, a huge swimming pool, an IMAX movie complex, a 24-hour spa, and a shopping center of its own.

Excalibur – Just over 4,000 rooms put this King Arthur-themed resort at number three at the moment. They have a variety of restaurants as well as a food court, as well as two pools, a spa, and waterslides out back. The Excalibur has several theaters and clubs as well as a salon and a wedding chapel.

Bellagio – This nearly-4,000-room resort was inspired by Lake Como in Italy, but it’s mostly just known for its elegance in general. They’ve got an acclaimed art gallery and their famous fountain show out front, but they’ve also got several pools, high-end restaurants, bars, clubs, and expensive shops as well.

Circus Circus – Not surprisingly, this resort with over 3,700 rooms has a circus theme, and it’s also one of the oldest hotels remaining on the Las Vegas Strip. They have midway attractions aimed at kids, but also three swimming pools, a wedding chapel, and lots of other entertainment. It’s one of the cheaper resorts in Las Vegas, and it may be demolished and rebuilt in the coming years.

Flamingo Las Vegas – The 3,600+ rooms on this site have been rebuilt since this was the first hotel on the Las Vegas Strip back in 1946. They have 5 pools, health spas, tennis courts, many restaurants, and a wedding chapel.

Caesars Palace – With over 3,300 rooms, this Ancient Roman-themed hotel has been expanded over the years from what was the classiest hotel in Las Vegas during the 70s and 80s. Their 4,000-seat theater hosted Celine Dion for several years, but this resort is more known for its lavish pool, restaurants, clubs, and the high-end Forum Shops area.

Las Vegas Hilton – This is the only off-the-strip resort in the Top 10. With almost 3,200 rooms, this hotel has been going strong since Elvis Presley performed here in 1969 when it was called the International. Frequent renovations have kept this place up to date, and the huge pool, many restaurants, nightclubs, shops, and smaller theaters stay busy almost all the time.

The Mirage – With over 3,000 rooms, this resort is still very popular. The fake volcano out front dazzles passers-by, but the Seigfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat are still big features inside. A dozen restaurants, a huge pool area, and many theaters and clubs also keep visitors occupied here.

Monte Carlo – With just over 3,000 rooms, this opulent resort with a vague Monte Carlo theme is one of the classiest hotels in Las Vegas. Lance Burton’s Magic Theater is always booked inside, and the many pools – including a wave-making machine, spas, tennis courts, wedding chapel, and shopping mall also keep folks entertained.
