2005 WSOP Event # 3: $1500 Pot-limit Hold Em

The amateur beat the pros in event # 3, as Thom Werthmann outlasted a tough final table, including knocking out top pro Tony Ma in third place, and beating five time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack in an epic heads up duel. The field of over 1,000 entrants was no match for Werthmann, who caught cards at the right time to win his first bracelet in his first major tournament. Thom went home with a smile on his face, and $369,535 in his pocket.
