Vegas Flashback Photo - Strip View of The Frontier and Stardust

North Strip Las Vegas photo featuring the Frontier, Stardust, Wynn and more.

Little did I know when I took this photo in August of 2005, that the view would be radically changed in just few years.

On the left, you can see the sign for The Frontier, which is scheduled to close on July 15 to make way for the new Plaza property. Just behind it you can see the Stardust sign peeking out. The hotel was demolished in March of this year so the Echelon Place could be built there.

Two more slices of Vegas history, destroyed to make way for the city’s future.

Do any of you readers have any memories of either hotel, or links to photos you’ve taken of the properties? Please let me know in comments.

I remember the smell of despair at the Frontier (and there’s nothing NEW about it!) The Stardust made me sad. They would have been nice properties had they been maintained.

The Stardust was my favorite casino ever. It was completely old school and they still treated a gambler right. I am not a high roller by any stretch by they always took care of everything I need when I was there. It was a very sad day when she went away. I created a photo tribute of what the grand lady was like in her final days…

That’s a great tribute page, Rob!

I’ve noticed that the general consensus on both hotels is that they were great for the budget and old school Vegas visitors, but they just weren’t kept up once the megaresorts started appearing en masse on the Strip.

It still makes me sad anytime a slice of Vegas history is wiped off the map.
