Word is out that a parking lot behind the Sahara Hotel & Casino will soon be converted into an “automotive playground” with a series of test tracks where racing fans can pay to take cars, trucks or SUVs for a spin. Officials from General Motors, the Sahara and the Las Vegas Monorail announced the deal that could see GM’s “The Drive” test track open as early as mid-March for an initial six month run. The location of the new attraction should help increase traffic on the suffering monorail system and please auto racing fans who frequent the Sahara, already home to a NASCAR Cafe.
