You might think you want to walk the strip, but that building that looks so close is actually far away. It just looks close because it’s gigantic. In 100 degree heat, you’re asking for a beating. Here are some alternatives:
Taxis: Cab fare from McCarren Intl Airport to the convention center will run you about $15. Cabs from the airport to the strip are a little bit less. Between casinos on the strip, depending on traffic, you’ll pay $6-$15. Fares are $3.00 to start plus $1.80 every mile after that. Waiting time is at the rate of $22/hr. If you get a cab leaving the airport they’ll tack on an extra $1.20, and none of this includes tipping the driver. 15% is a good guideline.

**Jen’s Vegas Travel Tip**The best place to get a cab is in front of a hotel/casino. Taxi drivers are not allowed to pick you up right off the strip.
