Pop singer/actress Jessica Simpson hosted the second anniversary of the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Pure on Friday night, but she didn’t get into the full spirit of the room.
Past PCD hosts have donned lingerie and even taken a dip in the champagne glass. But while Simpson wore a black lace bustier, it was covered by a black silk jacket. There was very little risque behavior, according to those in attendance, and that was due to her father putting his foot down. Even though Simpson is 26, her father Joe is also her manager, and he insisted she not do anything that would damage her sweet girl image.
According to Robin Leach, who talked with Joe at the Spiderman 3 premiere at the Palms the day before the PCD show, Simpson told him, “She will walk the red carpet and she will introduce the Pussycat Dolls and wish them a Happy Second Anniversary. But no striptease, no saucy sexy dance routines.”
Simpson, with her recent dark brown hair lightened, did exactly as her father ordered…and pocketed a reported $250,000 for doing so. I admit she looked sexy in her skintight outfit, but perhaps for the 3rd anniversary, Pure could find a host that better embodies the spirit of the Pussycat Dolls.
