Vegas News Bits for July 5, 2007

Just a few quick Vegas notes of interest for you today:

  • Temperatures in Vegas hit 116 degrees this week, which tied a 1985 record. That temperature is also only 1 degree shy of the all-time record. Might be a good idea to revisit my tips and tricks for beating the Vegas heat that I wrote last month. Stay safe if you’re visiting in this heat, ok?
  • Michael Politz from VegasEye.com confirmed my earlier suspicions that the off-Strip land deal I wrote about last week was indeed the land that was supposed to house the W Hotel development. Partnering in the deal are investment giant Africa Israel, NYC investor Steven Witkoff, the Cipriani family and Credit Suisse. He says that it’s possible one of the hotels planned for the property will carry the Cipriani name and that the group is estimating a 2012 opening for the as-yet-unnamed project.
  • There is a new category here at the Las Vegas Logue just for those of you looking for the latest Vegas deals and discounts. If you look up at the top navigation for this site, you’ll see a black tab that says “Vegas Deals“. Any discounts or deals on hotels, resorts, dining, shows or other Vegas happenings I find will be listed in there for easy reading all in one spot.

Thanks for reading the Las Vegas Logue. Don’t forget you can also sign up for our RSS feed so you don’t miss a post.
