When you’re in a casino and someone directs you to “The Cage,” they are not talking about the White Tiger Habitat at the Mirage, or the Lion’s Exhibit at the MGM. No, “The Cage” refers to The Cashier. This is the place where you exchange your chips for cash, take care of your markers, cash a pay check, or handle most other dealings regarding money. Due to the security needed to protect the house’s cash, there are bars in front of the attendants—hence the name “The Cage.”
