When playing Pai Gow poker, the two words you hear the most often are “Top” and “Bottom”. The “Top” refers to the two-card hand that you set in front of you. Of the two hands that need to be set, the “top” is the low hand, and only requires two cards. It sits closest to the dealer, “on top” of your bottom hand. It is also called the “low” hand.

The “Bottom” is the five-card hand that you set directly in front of you. It is your strongest hand of the seven cards. Also called the “high hand.”
