Celebrate Hawaii in Vegas This Month

It may be a few thousand miles away, but the spirit and culture of Hawaii comes to Las Vegas in the form of three events this month.

Celebrate Hawaii in Vegas This MonthThe Cannery Casino hosts Second Annual Pure Aloha Festival the weekend of October 12th through 14th. The event includes nighttime concerts from some of the most popular Hawaiian and Polynesian acts and a daytime festival that bring a little bit of the Hawaiian homeland to Las Vegas via cultural performances, crafts and food.

Daytime tickets for Oct 13th and 14th are $5 for adults and $2 for under 10/military/seniors 65 or older, while the Friday night concerts are $30 in advance ($35 day of show) and Saturday’s concerts are $23 in advance ($28 day of show).

Carrying on the spirit of our 50th state for the month, the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club is hosting two events the following weekend.

On October 19th, the Hawaiian Isle Luau takes place at the Henderson Events Plaza (200 S. Water St, Henderson, NV), from 6pm to 9pm. Admission and entertainment is free to those that attend, with the actual meal priced at $15 for advance tickets or $20 at the door. Proceeds from the luau meal, which is a plate dinner served with Kalua pig, BBQ chicken, Chicken, long rice, macaroni salad and a green side salad, will benefit LVHCC programs such as the scholarship program, cultural workshops, and more.  To purchase tickets, call Janet Ronan at (702) 649-9232.

The event then moves to the Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas for the Hawaiian Festival and Outrigger Canoe Regatta on October 20th and 21st. Enjoy Hawaiian cuisine, crafts, art, and live entertainment both days, along with outrigger canoe racing. Teams from California, Hawaii, Arizona, and more will compete in sprints on the 320-acre luxurious Lake Las Vegas throughout the weekend. Admission and entertainment is free.

If you’ve always wanted to learn more about Hawaii, these family-friendly events are just the ticket.
