Regardless of what you think of singer R. Kelly on a personal level, there’s no denying that the man has released some of the hottest selling R&B singles of the last ten years. From the anthemic “I Believe I Can Fly” to the steamy “Bump n’ Grind,” Kelly has topped the charts throughout the years. And let’s not forget he’s the man responsible for discovering the ultra-talented and sorely-missed Aaliyah.
Kelly’s current album TP.3 created quite a stir with its first single, the epic “Trapped In the Closet,” and he is touring in support of that with a stop at The Joint on May 4. No, the irony of the venue choice is not lost on me, either.
