The MGM name and lions go hand in hand. So, it is only fitting that the MGM Grand Hotel and Las Vegas do what they can to preserve their favorite animal for future generations. The Lion Habitat is 3,000 square feet large and has a tunnel running through the habitat so that visitors can see the large cats as they prowl and nap. There is lots of foliage, four waterfalls, and a pond that resembles the lions’ natural home as much as possible. The lions are taken care of by noted exotic animal expert Keith Evans, and are trucked in to the habitat every day from where they live on their 8 1/2 acre ranch. The Lion Habitat page on the MGM website has more information, a 360 degree view of the habitat, and fun lion trivia for kids.
