Cirque du Soliel Issues Cease and Desist Against Jeff Beacher Last week, Cirque du Soliel, which has several popular shows on The Strip, filed legal papers against Jeff Beacher, of “Beacher’s Madhouse” claiming that a new promotion he’s staging for his return to the Hard Rock Hotel infringes upon their name and reputation. Beacher fired back that he has no idea what they’re talking about and wants them to publicly apologize.

The cease and desist order, filed Feb 5, claims that Beacher has been using Cirque’s name and images to advertise an “orgasm contest” that will take place during Beacher’s new shows starting March 31.

Only Beacher claims he has never done any such thing.

According to the documents, Cirque is basing their court filing on information posted on two obsure Indian websites, IBNlive.com and theHimalayanTimes.com. Both sites published stories that claimed Beacher was calling the event the “Cirque du Soleil Contest” - quite possibly misinterpreting the term “The Big O” for Cirque’s popular Vegas show, “O”.

Neither story is currently online, but screencaps are included in the full court document .pdf file that is available online.

In a press statement, Beacher’s lawyer Mike Heller said, “”Mr. Beacher appreciates Cirque du Soleil and would never use their name in vain. We ask for a total retraction and apology from Cirque du Soliel.”

Cirque has not yet responded to Beacher’s request.
