A new musical comedy will be unveiled later this month at the Riviera Hotel. Love is a Pain is an adult musical directed by Raymond Homer and written by Chinese actress Shel Shine, who will have a supporting role (as Fortune Cookie) in this irreverent comedy about a divorced couple who find it financially necessary to keep living in the same house. The show will feature some of the latest high-tech theatre props in Vegas, including virtual sets developed by the crew.

“Love is a Pain” is the worst production I’ve seen in a long time, including the high school circuit. Where do I start - the sound system crackling, amateurish performances, offkey singing, lyrics that have nothing to do with the vague unrevealed plot, lack of rhythm, weak unoriginal choreography, seedy theatre, two-bit props…all for only $47.95. We led the charge for the rear doors after half an hour of torture to go get a refund. If this is what Vegas thinks is bound for Broadway, I think it will be a long trip.
