It’s a sign of the times when even the best selling shows are offering up discounts, not just to locals, but to all visitors to the city. However these discounts just mean you now don’t have any reason not to see a great show while you’re in Vegas.
Here are my picks for some of the best show discounts available right now:

Ever since it opened, Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE has been one of the top-rated and most popular shows on The Strip. But if you need more incentive to see the show, have I got one for you.
For select dates from now until February 27, 2009, The Mirage and Cirque are offering a 25% discount on tickets. Tickets for LOVE are normally priced at $102.85 to $165.00 (inclusive of tax). With the discount, tickets will be priced at $77.14 to $123.75.
Here is the rundown on the performances included in this promotion:
The 25% discount is only offered via a special online link at The Mirage website. They don’t say how long this offer is good, so I would suggest not waiting to get your tickets.

Another top-rated, usually packed show is Bette Midler at Caesars Palace. Normally it’s hard to find a seat for under $100, but for a limited time only, it’s possible to get tickets to some performances for as low as $45.45.
From November 25 through December 10, 2008, and January 02 through 25, 2009, select dates are discounted via a special deal between Ticketmaster and Travelzoo for Midler’s 7:30pm shows. First Mezzanine seating is discounted from $127.27 to $86.36 and Rear Orchestra seating is discounted from $159.09 to $127.27 during this promotion. Additionally, a very limited amount of Second Balcony seats per show are discounted from $86.36 to $45.45. All prices include tax.
To get the tickets at the discounted prices, visit Ticketmaster online, and under the “Travelzoo Special Offer”, select your seats and use the special promo code COOLYULE. You must book your tickets by December 10, 2008 to take advantage of the savings, but I expect many of the inexpensive seats to sell out fast.

If Broadway spectaculars are more your thing, Travelzoo also has a promotion running with the Las Vegas production of Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian.
For select shows through December 21, 2008, you can save $40 off of Orchestra and Gold Circle seats for performances on Monday through Saturdays. This brings Gold Circle seats from $158 to $118 and Orchestra seats from $125 to $85.

World Champion illusionist Lance Burton is currently offering $10 off select Tuesday-Saturday performances shows through December 13, 2008. This brings balcony seats down to $56.50 and mezzanine seats down to $62.55.
It’s very rare that this show has a discount, so I expect sales to be brisk for the available seats under this promotion. To purchase, visit the Monte Carlo box office online.

Don’t miss the chance to catch the final shows of Mamma Mia! at Mandalay Bay. The interactive musical is scheduled for its final Vegas curtain call on January 4, 2009, and you can score $30 off the regular ticket price for select seats in the main floor and mezzanine areas.
There is a limit of 8 tickets per customer and the tickets must be purchased via the Mandalay Bay box office online by December 21, 2008.
