Mandalay Place, which connects the Mandalay Bay hotel with the Luxor, is a haven of high-end stores with pampering in mind. One such establishment is The Art of Shaving, a male version of a spa. This small storefront offers a whole range of products for the consumer to take home, as well as a back area where the magic happens—the luxury of an old-fashioned straight-edged shave (and a haircut, if you so desire).
A host of products, such as shaving creams and soaps, after-shave masks and balms, shaving brushes, as well as razors of all kinds adorn the shop. They also offer a line of skin care as well as hair care products. An excellent place to get something unique for your special man.
But if you really want to pamper him, schedule an appointment for a shave. Barbers work from 9-5 and are regularly booked, so you do have to think several days ahead. A traditional shave, lasting about 25 minutes, costs $25, but it includes a three-part shave, face and neck massage, and hot scented towels. For $45 and 45 minutes, you get the royal treatment that includes a clay mask. These barbers also trim up the hair on top of your head as well, if so desired.

I find listings like this disappointing for 3 reasons: 1) it reads like an ad and has no evaluation of if it is a good experience; 2)why is this on BootsnAll? This is an expensive service that doesn’t match those of us who come to BootsnAll for hostels, bargain airfares and alternative travel.
3)this is not a blog entry; there is nothing personal about it.
