shark-aquariumTo complete the excellent dining experience, hot nighclubs and great entertainment, Mandalay Bay also offers other interesting things to do, such as a shark aquarium, beach, spa, gym, shopping and even several golf courses.

Shark Reef Aquarium

It is the only aquarium in North America dedicated to these interesting predators. Along with many varieties of sharks, visitors can also see endangered green sea turtles, piranha, sawfish and rare golden crocodiles. And by the way: if you are a certified diver and stay at Mandalay Bay, you can dive with the sharks (the cost is $650 per diver).

The aquarium is open from Sunday until Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $16.95 for adults, $10.95 for children (4-12); children under 4 can visit the aquarium for free.

The gym

The new health club at Mandalay Bay features energetic colors, soft lightning and motivating music – exactly what you need to put you in the mood. You can choose a one-on-one session with a trainer or try the equipment on your own.

The beach

It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (depending on the weather). Moorea Beach Club is open seasonally (currently closed until spring of 2010). The beach area offers a wave pool, three swimming pools, a lazy river, a jogging track and real sand. There’s even a Beachside Casino and you can rent a cabana, day beds, villas and bungalows to make your stay intimate and pleasurable.

The first level of the Beachside Casino is home to the open air Beach Bar & Grill. The second level is dedicated to games such as roulette, blackjack and craps in a casual setting with excellent views of the pool. The third level contains villas which can be rented by guests and which come with access to the third-level pool.

Between May and September, the stage above the beach area is home to exciting concerts.
