midwayFor most travelers Las Vegas equals gambling, show girls and drinking, along with partying till dawn and getting married (in secret). But among all these “sinful” activities, there are some kids’ friendly activities and you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that family vacations are possible in Las Vegas.

At Excalibur Hotel and Casino, the fun things to do for kids include a dinner show, arcade, carnival-style games and interactive rides. Just make sure to set a spending limit as soon as you enter the games and rides sections.

Tournament of Kings

Tournament of Kings is the most popular dinner show in Las Vegas, taking you back in time when Merlin used his powers, knights jousted and maidens sang. The kids are fascinated by the fireworks, invading armies and jousting. The arena is broken up into several sections and each section cheers for their own night while booing the others.

Everything is topped off with finger foods (which includes roasted game hen and an incredible tomato soup). Show times are at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. from Wednesday until Mondays (dark on Tuesdays). General admission is $54.95 (plus tax) and includes a three course meal. The show is suitable for all ages (kids under 3 years old may attend free of charge).

Fantasy Faire

The Fantasy Faire level at Excalibur offers an arcade, carnival-style games and magic motion machines.

The new SpongeBob 4D Special FX Ride is located within the Fantasy Faire level. In this fun ride, SpongeBob pursues a runway pickle as he wishes to serve up the perfect Krabby Patty. Through the magic of technology, riders can feel the wind, scents and bubbles to create a very interesting experience. Currently, the following rides are playing: SpongeBob Squarepants 4D, Extreme Log Ride and Dino Island 2 4D. During winter, The Polar Express 4-D is also available, recreating the magical journey to the North Pole. All riders must be at least 42” tall. The hours of operation are daily either from 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m.

Midway comprises the carnival games suitable for anyone. Grown ups will find pleasure in rediscovering childhood games and can even try out new ones, while the kids will be introduced to this fun world of entertainment. The games include old-fashioned horse-racing games, as well as some high-tech games. On Tuesdays, Midway has a special offer: you can ply two games for the price of one. The arcade is open daily from 10 a.m. until either midnight or 1 a.m.
