944 Magazine Anniversary Blow Out at The Palms

944 Anniversary Blow Out at The Palms Las VegasCelebrating a year in Vegas, 944 Magazine is hosting a weekend-long party at The Palms that is pulling out all the stops. From all-star bands to the opening of the new multi-million dollar Palms pool to rock’n’roll all day long, the event will be just one non-stop shindig starting June 30.

Ok, so technically the event got an early start Wednesday, as DJ Robert Oleysyck began his record-breaking continuous mix set attempt under the Palms marquee. But the party swings into full force on Friday, as the Brenden Theatres at the Palms hosts a celebrity IMAX screening of the new blockbuster movie, Superman Returns. Following this, head upstairs to the Ghostbar for a movie after-party featuring music from Chris Clouse, DJ P, DJ Roctakon, Ravi Drumz and DJ Klever. And all day long, you can visit the Area 108-sponsored Rock & Roll Lounge featuring tunes from The Bargain DJ Collective, Feed the Kitty, Slow To Surface, Away Station, Hello Stranger, Building a Better Spaceship, Mickey Avalon and Living Things.

Better down the energy drinks, because the show really kicks into full gear on Saturday, July 1. Following a proclamation by Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman that the day is “Las Vegas 944 Day,” the Palms will reveal what a $40 million pool area looks like. Chris Clouse and DJ Solomon, DJ P with Mr Freeze and the Rocksteady Crew and DJ Roctakon will spin during the afternoon. Towards evening, the amps will get turned up as The Panic Channel takes the stage, followed by the all-star jam band Camp Freddy.

And all day long, the Rock & Roll Lounge is still bringing live music inside with Otherwise, Red Light School District, The Human Value, Onethousand Pictures, Lo Mass Republic, Whitestarr and Morningwood.

The day wraps up with a party at Rain, featuring mixes by DJ Klever and DJ Reach, and a massive fireworks display.

If you think all that is enough, sources at 944 tell me they still have a few surprises up their sleeves that they’re not revealing until the event.

Tickets for the “Poolachella” concert featuring The Panic Channel and Camp Freddy are on sale now via Ticketmaster. Most of the weekend is also 21 and over.
