Pink Ginger

Flamingo continues to impress me with their restaurants. If it weren’t for my friends visiting Vegas and staying there, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to spend time at Flamingo. Twice this year, I’ve shown up for dinner, and twice I’ve been pleased. Last night we went to Pink Ginger, for Pan Asian cuisine. That means that you’re not just going for Chinese food, you have the option to order Japanese, Korean, or Thai food, as well.

I was dining with my Chinese grandparents, and we did go the Cantonese route on the menu. We started with the Ginger Wontons ($5.50) that were filled with crab and cream cheese, and the Peking Duck Sliders ($8.95) which is an appetizer version of Pekin Duck. Both of these hit the spot and the presentation included fresh orchids on the plate.

For our mains, the three of us shared the Scallop Char ($16.95) wok charred sea scallops with bok choy and oyster sauce, Shrimp & Lobster ($21.95) which is just what the name tells prepared Cantonese style with ginger and scallions, Green and Yellow Beans ($7.95) prepared in a wok with garlic and soy sauce, and Pink Ginger Fried Rice ($8.95).

The Scallop Char was the least impressive, but only in the mediocre sense. It wasn’t bad. The rest was fantastic, not the slightest bit greasy, and held up to the our standards as well as the rest of the restaurant. The service was impeccable, and the decor and ambience of the restaurant was modern, simplistic, and soothing. We ended the meal with a bowl of Lychee mixed with fresh berries ($5.95), and I’d be happy to return just for that.

Caveat: Champagne lovers should not order by the glass. I was unimpressed by the single glass bottle serving, and the bubbly seemed overly sweet.
