Buckcherry and Nonpoint at House of Blues

Buckcherry

When Buckcherry burst onto the national radar in 1999, it was like a throwback to great rock of the late 80s. Not in the big hair sense, but in that the music was raw, loud and in your face. Covered in tattoos, frontman Josh Todd was Steven Tyler, Axl Rose and Bon Scott all rolled into one — a raspy voice with a stage attitude to match. They had several rock hits, including “Lit Up” and “Check Your Head” before Todd unexpectedly left the band in 2002.

Last year, Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson ironed out their differences and reformed Buckcherry. The band was soon signed to Atlantic records, which has released the band’s latest cd, Fifteen (named so for the number of days it took to record).

Buckcherry is currently touring in support of this new release and will be at the House of Blues on May 19. Opening is the heavier rock band Nonpoint, which released their latest cd, To The Pain, last November. The show is all ages, but Buckcherry’s show generally tends to be geared towards the more mature concertgoer, so parents should keep that in mind.
