Morris Day & the Time Give Boulder Station Jungle Love

morrisdaytime.jpgPurple Rain was the movie that launched the Minneapolis R&B/Funk revolution of the mid-1980s and nobody benefited more from the exposure than The Time. Fronted by the energetic and comedic Morris Day, the band not only stole scenes in the movie, but went on to have major chart success with singles like “Jungle Love” and “The Bird.” Day also had minor success as a solo artist, releasing four albums and reaching the charts twice with the singles “Color of Success” and “The Oak Tree.”

Day left the band for a period in the 90s, but reunited with them for an appearance in the 2001 film, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Today, Day and valet/vocalist Jerome Benton continue to tour under the band’s moniker and will be appearing at the Boulder Station for a two-night stand beginning tonight. This will definitely not be a sit-down show.
