Castaways Hotel Imploded

The Strip waved goodbye to another old Las Vegas property yesterday when the former Showboat Casino, most recently known as The Castaways, was imploded and demolished. The casino had been closed since January 2004 after ownership filed for bankruptcy in June 2003, listing debts of more than $50 million. Station Casinos bought the 26-acre site on Boulder Highway 14 months ago, but the casino operator has not announced any plans for the site.
