Amazing Johnathan To End Vegas Show In December

Amazing JohnathanIn the wake of last week’s announcement about the sale of the Sahara, many have been wondering what, if any, changes will occur. This speculation has extended to the hotel’s regular entertainment acts, including family act The Scintas, who moved their show from The Rio to the Sahara only last year.

Of course by the time the dust settles on the sale, it’ll probably be fall or winter by the time any major changes would be implemented. But according to Mike Weatherford of the Review-Journal, the hotel’s top-selling act, Amazing Johnathan, has stated that regardless of the outcome, he will leave at the end of the year. It’s not because he is unhappy with his digs or the new owners, but because he wants to give up the rigorous nightly productions due to a potential health condition.

I’ll be sad to see him go. AJ has been one of my favorite shows since he first came to Vegas in 2001. His blend of comedy and magic isn’t for everyone, with its excessive gore and sarcasm. But if you have a strong stomach and sense of humor, you won’t find a funnier act on the Strip.

If you want to see him, before he does end the show, Amazing Johnathan plays the Sahara at 10 p.m. nightly in the Congo Room, except for Thursdays when the show is dark. Because of adult themes and language, nobody under 18 will be admitted without a parent/legal guardian (and honestly, I don’t think anyone under 16 should be admitted regardless – but that’s just me). General admission tickets are $44.95 and VIP is $54.95 (tax and ticket fees extra). For more information or to purchase, please visit the Sahara Box Office online.
