Bette Midler to Replace Celine Dion at Caesars Palace

Bette Midler to Replace Celine Dion at Caesars Palace Las VegasIt’s going to take a big voice and an even bigger personality to take over The Colosseum at Caesars Palace when its current resident, Celine Dion, ends her show in December of this year. And in an announcement from the resort on Thursday, it seems they’ve found their replacement…The Divine Miss M herself, Bette Midler.

As I reported earlier this year, Midler was spotted around town taking in all the hit shows with her entourage and back then, I speculated it was because she was sizing up her competition. It turns out I was right, as Midler has signed a two year contract with Caesars Palace to be their regular resident artist.

Midler says she will combine her extensive hit catalog of songs with plenty of laughs and complete outrageousness, and this show will be the biggest production she has ever done.

“Get ready Vegas ’cause here I come!” exclaimed the Divine Miss M. “Caesars Palace will never be the same and to all those critics who have accused me of being ‘tacky,’ ‘too much’ and ‘over the top’ I say, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!”

I’m really excited about this as Midler is an amazing artist live.

The show is scheduled to debut on February 20, 2008, and will be presented at 7:30pm nightly except for Mondays and Thursdays when it will be dark. Tickets for the first two weeks of shows went on sale today, and are priced at $95, $140, $175 and $250. They can be purchased by calling 877.7BETTEM (877.723.8836), visiting the Caesars Palace box office or via Ticketmaster. For groups of 20 or more, call 702.731.7208.
