Calling Home from Las Vegas

If you don’t have a cell phone with you or you don’t have it handy, be aware that making phone calls from your Las Vegas hotel room can add quite a bit to your bill. If your cell phone plan offers free night and weekend calls, use that first. Otherwise, buy a phone card so that long distance call rates are kept to a minimum. Dialing an 800 number for a calling card from your room is either free or considerably cheaper than just picking up the phone and dialing a long distance number direct. If you don’t see a card with telephone rates and instructions on your nightstand, call the front desk and ask about their rates before assuming that anything is free.
