Gilley’s at the Frontier to Hold Farewell Party

Gilley's at the Frontier in Las Vegas to Hold Farewell PartyWith all the news swirling lately of the sale of the Frontier and it’s imminent closure, I felt it was important to note that one other Vegas attraction in the hotel will soon be history, too.

Gilley’s Dance Hall Saloon, which has drawn country music fans to the Frontier for years, is also closing down. From its $15 all-you-can-drink suds to its mechanical bull, it was the lone honky-tonk on the Vegas Strip for many years.

The staff will hold a farewell party for the bar on July 7, a week before the resort itself is reportedly due to close. Other than that many of the employees are not talking much about the upcoming closure of the popular country bar.

Fortunately for fans of the venue, former general manager Stoney Gray is planning on opening up his own honky-tonk style bar near the South Point Hotel & Casino. Even though it’s a bit south of the main parts of the Strip, it’s still a good location as South Point’s Equestrian Center is pulling in a lot of horse events and there’s a lot of development happening in that area.

More news on Gray’s establishment to come. In the meantime, if you ever enjoyed a night at Gilley’s, be sure to visit again before it’s gone next month. And if you can’t make it, at least lift one in honor at home.
