The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas!” Sign

You know that sign that is on all the Las Vegas TV shows, websites and promotional material regarding Sin City? When you visit Las Vegas, you, too, can get your picture taken with it.

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas! sign is located on the south end of the Strip past Mandalay Bay. Some people say that this is officially the start of the Strip, which runs four miles up Las Vegas Boulevard to the Stratosphere.

Designed by Betty Willis and installed in 1959, the sign is 25 feet tall and one of the most iconic features in the city. It received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

There is a parking lot in the median of the road near the sign, so use this space when visiting so you don’t have to cross Las Vegas Boulevard. Though it is busiest on weekends and during holidays and conventions, everyone who visits the sign will have a chance to snap a picture of it.
