Vicki Lawrence and Mama in a Two-fer at Station Casino

vickilawrence.jpgEmmy Award-winning comedienne Vicki Lawrence first rose to fame as the youngest cast member on the long running comedy variety series “The Carol Burnett Show.” When that show ended, she spun off one of her more popular characters, Thelma Harper (a.k.a. “Mama”), into her own series, “Mama’s Family,” which ran for six years. Over the years, Lawrence has done turns as a TV game show host (“Win, Lose or Draw”) and TV talk show host (for the self-titled “Vicki”), but she’s never forgotten her comedic roots.

Starting April 21, Lawrence will be at the Suncoast Casino for a three-night run of her “Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show,” which is a combination of stand-up comedy, music and stories from her career. During the final third of the show, she turns the stage over to “Mama,” who proceeds to offer frank observations and jokes about everything, including Lawrence herself.

The jokes do get bawdy at times, so this probably wouldn’t be suitable for all ages, but it will be a great night of comedy.
