Better Than Ezra and Sister Hazel Rock House of Blues

Better Than Ezra and Sister HazelAmong the bands emerging out of the wave of melodic alternative rockers that flooded the radio in the late 90s was Better Than Ezra. Their song “Good” was a huge hit for the quartet, but even though the band released a few more albums, they never acheived the same heights of success. In the interim, frontman Kevin Griffin has written hit songs for artists like Howie Day and Blondie. The group, now down to a trio, has resurfaced with a new album, Before the Robots, and a new single, “A Lifetime,” that is getting major radio airplay.

By comparison, Florida’s Sister Hazel had a string of hits in the late 90s, including “Happy” and the band’s signature tune, “All For You.” But subsequent albums haven’t fared as well on the charts. This hasn’t stopped the band from continuing to release their well-written songs–even if they’re back to doing it on their own terms. The band just released an all-new collection of songs, Lift, and they’re also the organizers behind two well received music festivals, Rock Boat and The Rock Slope.

April 13 finds both bands rocking the stage at the House of Blues for a 21-and-over show. It’s sure to be a night of great music.
