INXS Comes To Pretty Vegas

INXS at The Aladdin in Las VegasThe members of INXS have come a long way from their early days as a pub band in their native country of Australia. The band first hit the radar in the early 80s with hits like “The One Thing,” “Original Sin” and “Need You Tonight.” But that was nothing compared to the success the band had with their 1987 album, Kick, which featured four top ten singles — “Need You Tonight,” “Devil Inside,” “Never Tear Us Apart” and “New Sensation.”  The band never acheived the same level of success for years after that, and in 1997, lead singer Michael Hutchence died of an apparent suicide.

INXS were all but relegated to the golden oldies stations, when the remaining members decided to hop on the reality tv craze and host a public search for a new lead singer in 2005. Thousands auditioned and the remaining few were whittled down, week by week, on the hit show “Rockstar: INXS.” Following the show’s finale, the band, with new singer J.D. Fortune (a former Elvis impersonator from Canada), went into the studio and recorded their current cd, Switch.

With two hit singles off that album — “Pretty Vegas” and “Afterglow” — INXS is back on the road in support. You’ll find the Aussie band at The Aladdin on June 23, one of their last dates before they take the bulk of the summer off.
