Latin Grammy Awards Move to Las Vegas

Latin Grammy Awards Move to Las VegasIt looks to be a muy caliente fall in Vegas, as it was announced this week the 2007 Latin Grammy Awards will take place at Mandalay Bay on November 8.

The ceremony, which recognizes excellence in Latin Music, has previously been held in Miami, Los Angeles and New York. But for it’s 8th annual celebration, it has chosen Vegas as its host city.

“We are thrilled to be working with Mandalay Bay and Las Vegas, and we look forward to embracing its growing Latin community,” said Gabriel Abaroa, President of The Latin Recording Academy, in a press release.

It’s not just the local Latin community that will be affected by this announcement.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Travel Industry Association of America, Las Vegas ranks as the nation’s top destination for Hispanics. Last year, approximately 2.4 million U.S. Hispanics visited the city and spent about $1.7 billion on non-gaming activities.

And all that without a city full of Latin Music superstars. Better book your rooms now.

The 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will air live on the Univision Television Network on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. ET, with a tape delay for the west coast. Additionally, the telecast will be seen globally in more than 100 countries.
