Roberta Flack at The Orleans

Roberta FlackNorth Carolina-born singer Roberta Flack has had great success both as a solo artist and with duet partners like Donny Hathaway, Peabo Bryson and Maxi Priest over the last thirty years. She had her first big break in 1972 when Clint Eastwood chose her song, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” as one of the main tracks in his film, Play Misty For Me. It was off her first album and within seven weeks went to #1 on the charts. She followed that up with “Where Is The Love?” with Hathaway and “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” which won her three Grammys in 1974.

Her recent release, The Very Best Of Roberta Flack, contains 17 hit songs that were released from 1969-1991 and there’s a good chance she’ll perform each one of them when she appears at The Orleans later this week. Her four-night engagement starts May 18.
