Mirage Hotel and Casino

Overview: This tropical paradise was a Steve Wynn project that opened in 1989. It has since turned over to MGM Mirage. There’s not a whole lot to do at the Mirage, but the casino is a fun one and the staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. Some might say it is starting to feel a bit tired, but I think it’s reliable. And it’s in a great location set between the Caesars Forum Shoppes and TI, and close to the Venetian as well. The poker scene is alive and kicking at the Mirage, who hosts noteable World Poker Tour tournaments on the premesis.

Price Range: Weekend splurge

Shows: Danny Gans, and occasionally Jay Leno and other headliners, Cirque du Soleil coming in (2006)

Bars/Clubs: Onda lounge

Restaurants: Samba Grill, Carvings, Onda, Kokomo’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Carnegie Deli

Known for….Siegfried and Roy. Though the amazing duo no longer has their show, the white tigers are still on display as well as Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.

The one thing…the pool. They’ve got a great pool with large rocks, inlet lagoons, and waterfalls. It does feel like you’re in an oasis on a very hot day. Naturally nice, unlike some of the pomp and circumstance of the pools at other themed hotels.
