Vegas Pool News: Kim Cattrall Opens Palazzo Pools; Rio Opens Sapphire

Kim Cattrall Opens Palazzo Pools

Kim Cattrall Opens Palazzo Pools in Las VegasSex and the City star Kim Cattrall took a break from steaming up New York City to officially help open the new pool complex at the luxury Palazzo resort.

The actress hosted a combination champagne brunch and fashion show titled “Vegas Mode – Where Fashion Meets Luxury.” Food was supplied by poolside restaurants Wolfgang Puck’s Solara and the Canyon Ranch Spa Club’s Canyon Ranch Grille as top retailers from The Shoppes at The Palazzo offered a look at some of the summer’s hottest trends.

“I’m so glad that The Palazzo invited me to be a part of the opening of their amazing pool area – private cabanas, multiple pools and a fashion show – now this is my kind of place!” said Cattrall, who appears in this weekend’s big screen debut of her popular HBO series. “It’s so great to have a haven like The Palazzo to go to in between shooting and working. It’s so refreshing to have a place to relax and enjoy time with friends, especially one where the shopping is so phenomenal.”

The Palazzo pool area encompasses over four acres on the resort’s third floor and includes several pools, along with four jacuzzi spas, surrounded by 380 chairs and chaise lounges. Those seeking a bit more privacy and luxury can reserve one of the 41 cabanas that feature a 32-inch flat panel HDTV with VHS/DVD player, a safe, air conditioning and a fully stocked refrigerator, among other amenities.

Rio Opens New Sapphire Pool

The summer pool circuit in Vegas is getting a bit hotter with the new addition at the Rio. The resort has just announced it is opening a Brazilian-style, adult-only waterland known as the Sapphire pool this weekend (May 31st).

Rio Las Vegas Opens New Sapphire PoolThe pool area offers 7 fully-outfitted cabanas with personal host, TV, refrigerator and more. Built into the 15-ft high lagoon are two jacuzzis and three waterfalls.

The new pool is a joint offering with Sapphire Gentlemens Club, and the staff reflects this. Celebrating the Brazilian atmosphere, the Sapphire pool cocktail waitresses will wear barely there bikinis with a sarong, while DJ Madame Malixa creates an outdoor club environment with a mix of Top 40 and hip hop.

To further relax, guests can enjoy a range of specialty chilled cocktails ranging from build-your-own mojitos to the Caipirinha (the “drink of Brazil”), as well as a full bar offering.

The Sapphire Pool will be open daily from 10am until 6pm. Admission is $10 for women, and for men, it is $20 on weekdays, $30 on weekends and $40 on holidays. Guests must be at least 21.
