Farewell Teatro

teatro.jpgVegas club denizens are in shock this week as word has leaked out that Teatro Euro Bar in the MGM Grand is closing. The original statement sent out last week said the bar was just closing for remodeling, but even though it celebrated its first anniversary last December, the venue hasn’t been performing up to standards — certainly nowhere near the popularity of the resort’s other hotspots, Tabu and Studio 54.

Rumors are swirling that the remodeling will include converting the space into a regular bar to catch the before- and after-show crowds who just don’t want to stand in line for a drink at the nightclubs, similar to the nearby Zuri Bar. In fact, it’s quite possible that by the time the dust settles, the only thing that could remain is the red Ferrari leather and digital-bottle wall.

The club officially closes on April 15, but on April 11 Tabu resident DJ Leo Teo will be hosting his 30th birthday party at Teatro. The afterhours event will also serve as the cd release party for “Return of Trance.” Glowsticks are welcome.
