Lance Burton Renews Contract with Monte Carlo

lanceburton300For weeks now, magician Lance Burton’s show at the Monte Carlo has been dark due to an injury he sustained during a show on May 7, 2009. He went out into the audience to retrieve a parakeet and stumbled up the stairs returning to the stage and broke his right foot, requiring surgery.

During this time period, not only did his recovery window have to get extended, but his current contract with the Monte Carlo expired with no word on a renewal. This lead many Vegas insiders to speculate that Burton might be leaving the resort or even retiring after a long Vegas career.

I’m happy to report that at a press conference late yesterday afternoon (June 30) at Brand Steakhouse, Lance Burton announced he has decided to renew his contract with the Monte Carlo for another six years.

This means fans of the magician will be able to see his award-winning show until 2015.

Burton said during his downtime he did consider all the possibilities open to him, including retirement, before deciding to stay on the Strip at the resort where he’s spent more than a decade as a headliner.

There will be some changes, though. The most notable is that Burton will scale back his performances from seven shows a week to five, leaving Sunday and Monday nights dark.

Currently, plans are for Burton to return to performing at the Monte Carlo on July 7, 2009. Tickets are now on sale at the resort box office or by phone at 702-730-7160 or 877-386-8224.
