Magician Nathan Burton’s Ice Feat Cut Short

Las Vegas magician Nathan BurtonAfter months of planning, Vegas magician Nathan Burton attempted to spend 24-hours entombed in a block of ice yesterday. Unfortunately, high winds and near 100-degree temperatures cut his feat short just after the seven-hour mark.

Burton was encased in the giant ice block, shaped as a giant “M,” yesterday morning, but the conditions outside Planet Hollywood, where the event took place, simply wore down the seams of the 15-ton sculpture. When it got to the point where officials felt the “M” was in danger of collapsing on top of the magician, the trick was called off.

Celebrity Vegas scribe Robin Leach was there for the end of the event and has a great photo recap of Burton’s record attempt.

You can continue to catch Burton at his daily afternoon magic show at the V Theater at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
