Scintas To Leave The Rio

scintas.jpgWhile many shows in Vegas are adults-only, the Scintas have put together a family-friendly show blending humor, singing and impressions. The sibling group has made their home at The Rio for the last five years, but have decided it’s time for a change.

May 3 will be the Scintas’ last night performing at The Rio. After a short break, the act will move over to the north end of The Strip to the Sahara. The Scintas will perform in the 7 p.m. timeslot, with the topless “Buck Wild” show that is currently playing the resort keeping its 10 p.m. timeslot.

The Scintas — Frank, Joe and sister Chrissi, with drummer Peter O’Donnell — say they are using the last few weeks at The Rio to try out new things for their relocated show, including changing the opening number. They say they are also hoping to give the show a looser, less-scripted feel.

No exact date has been given for the Scintas move to the Sahara, but all parties are aiming for a mid-to-late May debut.

As for The Rio, there have been several proposals submitted for consideration, but sources tell me they feel what replaces the Scintas will be less family-friendly and more in the vein of the sexy image the resort has been trying to cultivate with the recent remodeling of its nightclub venues. The Rio is already home to the Penn & Teller show and The Chippendales, both of which are themed for an adult audience.
