NBA All-Star Weekend Events Plentiful

Las Vegas NBA All-Star Game logoWhat happens when you mix some of basketball’s greatest athletes with celebrity sports fans in Las Vegas? The NBA All-Star Weekend, that’s what. And what to do when not hitting the courts? Party it up, Vegas style.

All of the city’s hottest clubs are playing host to a nightly schedule of hot parties with incredible entertainment. For those that missed my earlier posts, here are the links to the Friday, Saturday and Sunday line-ups.

Basketball events are plentiful, too. Besides the actual NBA All-Star game, the other hard to find set of tickets is for the NBA All-Star Jam Session, on Friday, February 16. Featuring two teams comprised of actors, musicians and a few pro atheletes, the game is a lot of fun for both fans of the sport and those who just like to celeb watch.

Playing for the East Team are David Arquette (“In Case of Emergency”), Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile), Nelly (Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist), Kevin Frazier (host of “Entertainment Tonight”), Donald Faison (“Scrubs”), Taye Diggs (Rent, Chicago), Bobby Flay (“Throwdown with Bobby Flay”), Carrot Top (comedian) and Katie Smith (WNBA’s Detroit Shock). The team will be led by Coach Tim Legler (ESPN analyst) and Asst. Coach James Pickens Jr. (“Grey’s Anatomy”).

Playing for the West Team are Jamie Foxx (Ray, Dreamgirls), James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”), Reggie Bush (NFL’s New Orleans Saints), Bow Wow (Roll Bounce), Jamie Kennedy (“Jamie Kennedy Experiment”), Tony Potts (co-anchor of “Access Hollywood”), Nick Cannon (Bobby), Jonathan Silverman (“In Case of Emergency”), Tamika Catchings (WNBA’s Indiana Fever). The team will be led by Coach Greg Anthony (ESPN) and Asst. Coach Wayne Newton (aka “Mr. Las Vegas”).

ESPN will be broadcasting the game live from Mandalay Bay, beginning at 7pm ET

Saturday finds EA Sports sponsoring a night of skills competitions at the Thomas and Mack Center, including the Sprite Slam Dunk and the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout.

Then Sunday, February 18, the 56th NBA All-Star Game will be telecast live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center on TNT, beginning at 8pm ET.

For those who want to follow the week’s hoops action online, the NBA has set up an official All-Star blog with all the action and photos.

If you’re out and about town this week, let us know what you did and who you met. Either drop us a comment or a link to your own blog post. We’ll post as many as we have space for.
