The Venetian/Palazzo

palazzo-masterThe Venetian is a luxury hotel and casino, located on the east side of the Strip, between Harrah’s and the Palazzo. Although the Palazzo is marketed as a stand-alone resort, it is actually an extension of The Venetian Casino Resort and the Sands Expo complex.

Year Opened

The Venetian opened on May 3, 1999, and its extension, the Palazzo, opened on January 17, 2008 (official grand opening).

Resorts/hotels near-by: The Venetian is located between Mirage the Hotel and Casino and Harrah’s Las Vegas; while the Palazzo is between Wynn Las Vegas and the Venetian Casino Resort. Close to both, there are the Imperial Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas and Caesars Palace.

Number of rooms and suites

The Venetian features 4,049 suites. However, combined with the Palazzo Hotel and Casino Resort and the Sands Expo Convention Center, The Venetian is part of the largest hotel and resort complex center in the entire world, featuring a whooping 8,108 rooms and suites.

The casinos

venetian-palazzo-master-2The 120,000-square-foot casino is located inside the Doge’s Palace at the Venetian and features marble floors and hand-painted ceilings. There are over 1,700 slot/video poker machines and some slots are decorated with the exclusive Venetian-themed dollar. Guests can choose among 110 table games, 39 tables of poker, or try their luck (and skill) at the luxury race or sports book. The casino at the Palazzo features both table games and slots.

General Price range

The Venetian & the Palazzo are both 5-star hotels aimed squarely at the 5-star crowd, so don’t book here if you are looking for a fantastic bargain. Rooms at either place normally start over $200 per night and $250 to $300 is more typical, even during slower periods.

Restaurants

At the Venetian alone there are 20 choices, ranging from simple and casual to expensive and exotic. Many of them have an Italian theme, going along with the hotel’s theme itself, but you’ll also find French, Asian, Mexican and American cuisine mixed in.

At the Palazzo there are 17 choices, offering a wide range of styles and cuisines. Some of them have Italian cuisine, but there are restaurants and cafes featuring American, Asian, Mexican and global cuisines.
