Spending the winter holidays in Las Vegas

las-vegas-stripWith only little over two weeks to go until Christmas, it’s probably a bit insane to talk now about spending the winter holidays in Las Vegas. The city is definitely unique, whether we talk about the good or bad things it offers. The colorful neon lights, blend with the non-stop partying atmosphere and stun anyone who visits the city for the first time.

Planning the budget: the flight and accommodation

It is always a good idea to book round trip airline tickets when you plan your vacation (that’s in case you don’t plan to enter a country via a city and fly back from another city).

Let’s say you want to arrive in Las Vegas on December 23 and want to stay until December 27 (so only for Christmas). A round trip flight from New York will cost at least $620. Of course, depending on where you live, you’ll have to rack up quite a bit of money for the flight…which is not insane, considering that we are talking about the high tourist season.

You should know that flights to Las Vegas tend to be more expensive during the high tourist season but even so it’s still best to book the ticket at least two weeks before departure. To save money, plan to fly mid-week (Tue to Thu) when the airplanes are harder to fill and the airlines are willing to give discounts. And if you are really brave, you can wait until the very last minute and look for the last minute offers.

Now that you’ve got the flight planned, you need a place to stay. Luckily Las Vegas cheap hotels can be found easily and you’ll be amazed that there are very good deals you can choose from. The thing is that the economic crisis hit the town very hard and the only option for the resorts is to cut the prices down in order to attract tourists. While the situation, in general, is bleak for the hoteliers, tourists can now afford staying on the Strip without having to break their budget.

If you want to stay on the Strip and have few money to spare, a room at Circus Circus Las Vegas costs $58 per night for 2 persons. More so, if your plans include traveling with the kids, this is the perfect place to head to. The kids can kill some time trying the rides in Adventuredome and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the daily circus shows.

However, if you are the partying type, you should look somewhere else. Encore Las Vegas is a good idea for those looking to spend a different kind of Christmas. The luxury hotel offers rooms starting at $178 per night during the holidays. This is a place for those who love to party and enjoy the typical Las Vegas shows.

Of course, no matter where you choose to stay, you can book show tickets at any theatre on the Strip – but do try to book them in advance. Likewise, you can explore all the restaurants but remember that the luxury ones need reservations in advance.

Should you prefer to relax in one of the Spas, make sure to book the treatments in advance and look for the specials offered for the hotel’s guests.
