Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie’s Sold for $1.3 Billion

Stratosphere Sold for $1.3 BillionIt’s safe to say the north end of the Strip is a hot bed of activity and it’s been revealed yet another big money deal is in the works.

Carl Icahn has sold the Stratosphere and both Arizona Charlie’s Decatur and Boulder locations, along with 17 acres of Strip property and the the Aquarius Casino in Laughlin. The buyer? The Goldman Sachs Group, which has agreed to shell out $1.3 billion for the entire package.

No word on what this means for the Stratosphere, which in recent years has undergone renovations, including the addition of the hot Polly Esthers nightclub, or any of the other casino resorts involved in this deal.

One also has to wonder if when everything on the north end of the Strip has been bought and sold, will developers then turn their eyes on the downtown area or will they try to extend the sprawl on the south end of the Strip.
