Addiction at Rumor Las Vegas

If you’re planning on eating at the boutique hotel Rumor in Las Vegas, the only choice you really have is to dine at Addiction, a small but sleek restaurant near the lobby of the hotel. The restaurant is led by Chef Eric Koehler, who has worked with some of the finest chefs in Las Vegas. Addiction is supposedly a blend of his southern heritage and a Mediterranean influence, but it would be much more fitting simply to call the cuisine and setting comfy chic.

Addiction is open from 6:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and serves full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All include options for meat lovers and vegetarians, most with a kick of class and style. For breakfast, choose from a selection of $7.00 entrees including a fruit assortment, cinnamon roll French toast and crème brûlée oatmeal. Egg and meat scrambles are just a couple dollars more and are served with breakfast potatoes and toast.

For lunch, choose from a light menu of salads and sandwiches, all of which are $10.00 or less. If you’re going in for lunch, however, you might want to take advantage of the burger bar, a design-your-own burger selection from the bun up. Choose from a host of cheese, topping and sauce selections plus one of three side dishes for $9.00.

If you’re heading in for a post-work snack or gearing up for dinner, Addicition offers several “tapatizers” which range from the standard (Kobe sliders) to the zany (black cod tostadas). The mac styx (breaded and fried mac and cheese with truffle oil) are among the more unusual offerings, but all tapatizers are certainly large enough to share.

Dinner offerings at Addiction include a more robust selection of salads and a handful of pasta, vegetarian and meat-friendly options. Prices range from under $15.00 for the single pasta dish to nearly $30.00 for the house filet. The burger bar is available for dinner as well. All menu items are created from fresh ingredients and presented with style on the plate.

Of all the menus at Addiction, it is the dessert selection that seems longest, and all desserts are large enough to share. From deep-fried nutter butters to a sundae and berry bowl, when combined with a cup of coffee, this is a great way to end a meal at Addiction.

Though the food at Addiction is noteworthy, the ambiance is worth noting as well. Tucked into the corner of Rumor’s lobby, Addiction is not really a separate entity but simply an extension of the modern decor that defines this boutique resort. The furniture is slick and sleek, and diners can eat indoors or out. It is casual and relaxed, and the food seems to be a bit higher quality than the decor lets on. Wait staff is dressed casually in shorts and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant doesn’t seem to be particularly busy, but turnaround time from ordering to delivery of food seems to take a bit longer than necessary.

Addiction is a weird bump on the Las Vegas dining radar, with its upscale food and relatively casual yet strangely sophisticated vibe, but it’s exactly because of all of these things that you should make the point to dine there on your next Las Vegas vacation.
